Taking Children and Young People Seriously

Hedegaard and Edwards' 2023 book Taking Children and Young People Seriously: a caring relational approach to education is now out in paperback, with Cambridge University Press.

The book draws on the research of Mariane and Anne and of others working with cultural-historical approaches to education and development, from infancy to adolescence.

Anna Stetsenko described it as follows: “This timely book breaks away from outdated canons portraying children as passive recipients of socialization. Instead, it sees capturing children’s own activities and experiences – and the necessary societal supports - as central to understanding development.”
