Avances de la Red ISCAR-LA+: colaboración, proyectos y nuevas oportunidades para 2026

La Red ISCAR-LA+ se está configurando como un espacio activo de encuentro, aprendizaje, colaboración y desarrollo para investigadoras e investigadores y otros interesados en la Teoría de la Actividad y el enfoque histórico-cultural en Latinoamérica y el mundo hispanohablante. El nombre ISCAR-LA+ refleja la vocación de apertura de la red ya que  aunque el foco es América Latina y el mundo hispanohablante, buscamos también acoger a participantes de Brasil, España y otros territorios interesados en este campo de estudio.

Desde mediados de 2025, la red se reúne el primer miércoles de cada mes, con creciente participación de académicos, profesionales y estudiantes. Quienes quieran sumarse pueden escribir al correo de contacto: iscar.latinoamerica@gmail.com.

Cada sesión mensual sigue una estructura sencilla pero fructífera: (1) se revisan brevemente los acuerdos de la minuta anterior y luego (2) hacemos un club de lectura donde abrimos una conversación colectiva en torno a un texto que seleccionamos entre sesiones para que todos podamos leerlo. Estas lecturas buscan profundizar debates contemporáneos, compartir experiencias territoriales y fortalecer una comprensión situada de la Teoría de la Actividad.

Además, la red avanza en tres proyectos estratégicos:

1. Repositorio de materiales en español. ISCAR-LA+ está reuniendo recursos fundamentales en español —y eventualmente en inglés cuando su relevancia lo amerita— con el propósito de facilitar el acceso a bibliografía clave. 2. Traducción al español de Learning by Expanding. Este proyecto busca poner a disposición de la comunidad hispanohablante una traducción rigurosa y accesible de esta obra central de Yrjö Engeström, ampliando así las posibilidades de formación e investigación.
3. Curso abierto de Introducción a la Teoría de la Actividad (2026). Ya se definieron los módulos, docentes y estructura general del programa.

Desde la Red ISCAR-LA+ creemos profundamente en la necesidad de construir un conocimiento situado, dialogado y latinoamericano, capaz de recoger las experiencias, desafíos y potencias de nuestros territorios. Aspiramos a que este espacio siga creciendo como un lugar de encuentro genuino entre quienes investigan, enseñan y trabajan desde las tradiciones histórico-culturales y de la Teoría de la Actividad. Esperamos seguir creciendo y aprendiendo juntos, ampliando nuestras voces, fortaleciendo nuestras redes y generando aportes colectivos que enriquezcan la comprensión y la transformación de nuestras prácticas. Todas y todos están invitados a ser parte activa de este esfuerzo compartido.

Updates from the ISCAR-LA+ Network: Collaboration, Projects, and New Opportunities for 2026

The ISCAR-LA+ Network is taking shape as an active space for meeting, learning, collaboration, and development for researchers and other individuals interested in Activity Theory and the cultural-historical approach in Latin America and the Spanish-speaking world. The name ISCAR-LA+ reflects the network’s commitment to openness: while its primary focus is Latin America and the Spanish-speaking world, it also seeks to welcome participants from Brazil, Spain, and other territories interested in this field of study.

Since mid-2025, the network has been meeting on the first Wednesday of each month, with growing participation from academics, practitioners, and students. Those interested in joining can write to the contact email: iscar.latinoamerica@gmail.com.

Each monthly session follows a simple yet productive structure: (1) a brief review of the agreements from the previous meeting minutes, followed by (2) a reading group in which we open a collective conversation around a text selected between sessions so that everyone can read it in advance. These readings aim to deepen contemporary debates, share territorial experiences, and strengthen a situated understanding of Activity Theory.

In addition, the network is advancing three strategic projects:

1. Repository of materials in Spanish. ISCAR-LA+ is compiling key resources in Spanish—and eventually in English when relevant—with the aim of facilitating access to essential literature. Padlet open to contributions: https://padlet.com/vhojman1/escritos-de-chat-mn1sy0a6fbq3s6o2
2. Spanish translation of Learning by Expanding. This project seeks to make available to the Spanish-speaking community a rigorous and accessible translation of this central work by Yrjö Engeström, thereby expanding opportunities for training and research.
3. Open course: Introduction to Activity Theory (2026). The modules, instructors, and overall structure of the program have already been defined.

At ISCAR-LA+, we strongly believe in the need to build situated, dialogical, and Latin American knowledge—knowledge that can engage with the experiences, challenges, and potentials of our territories. We aspire for this space to continue growing as a genuine meeting point for those who research, teach, and work within the cultural-historical traditions and Activity Theory. We hope to keep growing and learning together, amplifying our voices, strengthening our networks, and generating collective contributions that enrich both the understanding and transformation of our practices. Everyone is warmly invited to be an active part of this shared effort.
