SW-ISCAR Network meeting, Gothenburg

On 28–29 October, we gathered at the University of Gothenburg for a meeting of the Swedish branch of ISCAR (SWISCAR). Two truly inspiring, intellectually stimulating and productive days, with a strong focus on the future development of SW-ISCAR, our Swedish–Norwegian collaboration within SN-ISCAR, and our contributions to the global ISCAR community.

SWISCAR meeting

A highlight was the keynote by Professor Annalisa Sannino, Tampere University, who has recently been awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Gothenburg: “4G CHAT: Enacted Utopias and the Responsibility of Optimism.”

We also enjoyed three engaging presentations on the theme “Writing a Doctoral Thesis within Cultural-Historical Activity Theory”:

  • Cecilia Hermansson, University of Gothenburg: “School Improvement in Meetings between First Teachers and Principals – Opportunities and Challenges.”
  • Carole Chappuis, Linköping University: “Seedbombs in the Making: Investigating the Development of Action-Oriented Teaching Practices in Biodiversity Conservation Education.”
  • Maryna Rosen, Mid Sweden University: “Kharkiv Psychological School in Sweden: Reconnecting Cultural-Historical Psychology with Contemporary Educational Research.”

The programme also included thought-provoking seminars, rich literature dialogues and stimulating discussions about future research and collaboration - and, of course, wonderful opportunities to connect, share ideas and enjoy each other's company!

A warm thank you to everyone who contributed to making these two days so meaningful, enjoyable and forward-looking. We look forward to continuing our work together!
