Cultural Historical and Activity Theory Summer School, Australia

Face-to-face
Friday 5th to Monday 8th December 2025
University of Newcastle, Nihon City Campus, Australia

The Summer School is an opportunity for Doctoral and Early Career Researchers interested in Cultural Historical and Activity theories and research methodologies, facilitated by senior researchers and theoreticians, to spend sustained time delving into theory and research. Newcastle is an easy two-hour drive or train journey up the coast from Sydney with many fantastic tourist sites in and around the city, including beautiful beaches, the Hunter Valley vineyards, and a thriving food, entertainment and art scene. The Summer School program will be entirely face-to-face.

The Summer School brings together scholars emphasising building deeper understandings of theory, and relationships between researchers and advancing the research of doctoral students and early career researchers. Led by internationally recognised scholars including: Nikolai Veresov, Kim Dang, Andy Blunden, Anna Popova, David Kellogg, and Juliana Pasqualini. The program will comprise extended workshops, small group discussions, deep reading sessions, one-to-one consultations, and writing retreats led by senior academics. There is also time for reflection, recreation and enjoying nature on one of the finest beaches in Australia.
